Description
Polyethylene is odorless, non-toxic, feels like wax, has excellent low temperature resistance (minimum operating temperature can reach -100~-70°C), good chemical stability, and can resist most acid and alkali erosion (not resistant to oxidation nature acid). It is insoluble in common solvents at room temperature, with low water absorption and excellent electrical insulation.
There are four categories of polyethylene thermoplastic material based on density/property: low, medium, high (HDPE) and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. Characteristics of these include:

Is PE material safe?
Polyethylene is an inert and chemically neutral material and is not classified as dangerous goods or hazardous materials for transportation. The product will burn at high temperatures and can emit irritating smoke similar to that produced by burning wood but is not considered flammable.
Application
Extruded polyethylene has a wide variety of uses and is commonly used in the healthcre industry. In medical tubing, needle sheaths and sampling tubes. Its ability to be produced in small diameters helps in these respects, and it is commonly used to make tubes to transport water and other liquids.
Polyethylene extrusions also have larger scale applications, including film cores, tubes for product handling and PACKAGING sleeves and protection trims for a wide range of items.
Modified
The modified varieties of polyethylene mainly include chlorinated polyethylene, chlorinated sulfated polyethylene, crosslinked polyethylene and mixed modified varieties.
