Description

Extrusion is a process where a material is pushed through a tool with a specialized shape called a die, producing continuous objects of a fixed cross sectional profile. 

PVC profiles has a wide range of applications, it can be soft or hard. Usually used for building decoration; home appliance class parts, at the same time in the shower room water retaining important aspect.

The extrusion technology is mainly divided into cold and vacuum extrusion, the cold extrusion product size is accurate, but the mass production lead will be much long than vacuum extrusion, not suitable for customers with large quantity and short delivery period; fast vacuum extrusion speed, large mass production, but not suitable for customers with high size accuracy requirements.

 

Main setting devices of extrusion
Use powder directly for hard plastic profile extrusion, the main equipment is a conical double screw extruder.
1. Cooling and setting device (shaping table). When the profile come out of mold, the dimension is close the design, but have to cooled through the cooling and setting device to obtain the required shape and size, this processing also affects the quality of the profile. There is a vacuum setting water tank on the setting table, generally using 3-5 vacuum pumps to complete the setting water and vacuum degree, and 2-4 circulating pumps to complete the cooling water cycle. The water pressure is 1-3.5bar, and the water temperature is generally controlled at 15 ± 1℃. Generally, the dry setting negative pressure of the main profile is-0.5--0.7MPa, and the vacuum negative pressure of eddy current water tank is generally-0.002—0.013MPa. The main advantages of eddy current water tank are good cooling effect, uniform cooling and accurate molding size. The setting table can be adjusted horizontally and vertically to adjust the correct position of the nose mold.

What are the Different Types of Plastic Extrusion?

Depending on the die shape, different products can be formed using various available extrusion processes listed below:

1. Tubing Extrusion

This extrusion type is used for the extrusion of tubes and pipes. In this process, air with positive internal pressure may also be applied. The tubes or pipes after exiting the die are pulled into a cooling tank were they are normally water-cooled.

2. Blow Film Extrusion

This type is used for the production of plastic films tubes through a continuous sheeting. In this process the film tube melt is cooled before leaving the die, producing a semi-solid tube and blown to expand to a desired size and film thickness. This process is used for manufacturing of products such as shopping bags.

3. Sheet Film Extrusion

This type is used for the extrusion of plastic sheets or films that are too thick to be blown. After exiting the die, the sheets are pulled and cooled through a series of cooling rolls, which also regulate the sheet thickness.

4. Over Jacket Extrusion

This extrusion type is used for wire coating. In this process the wire is pulled through the centre of the die. If adhesion is required between the wire and the coating, pressure tooling is used. In this method the wire is covered in molten plastic whilst in the die and is pressurized when exiting the die. If adhesion is not required, jacketing tooling is used. In this method, the wire is covered by the melt as it exits the die.
