Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer Rubber EPDM Building Electric Cable Insulation Applications
Description
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer Rubber, also named as EPDM in short, is the polymer of ethylene and propylene. Large scale commercial production began in 1963 and the current overall global consumption of EFPM are 800,000 tons per year. EPDM is polyolefine - categorized and has excellent performance of vulcanization and its gravity is the lowest among all rubbers.
It has outstanding resistance to sunlight, ozone and all forms of aging and weathering; together with a capacity to accept large loadings of extender oil and fillers without undue loss of physical properties. So far, their use in tyres has been limited mainly due to processing difficulties, although blends with up to 20% of EPDM have been successfully adopted by some manufacturers, particularly for sidewalls.
According to the performance characteristics of ethylene propylene rubber, it is mainly used in the fields of aging resistance, water resistance, corrosion resistance and electrical insulation, such as light color tire side, heat resistance transportation belt, cable, wire, anti-corrosion lining, sealing gasket, building waterproof sheet, door and window sealing strip, household electrical accessories, plastic modification, etc.

Function
Compared with other commonly used general rubber or special rubber, the main performance advantages of EPDM lie in the following aspects of :
(1) Economical. Raw rubber density is only 0.86~0.90g/cm3, is the lightest common rubber material; and can be filled other material to reduce the cost and increase the weight.
(2) Excellent aging resistance, weather resistance, ozone resistance, sunlight resistance, heat resistance, water resistance, water vapor resistance, ultraviolet resistance, radiation resistance and other aging properties, and other unsaturated diene rubber such as NR, SBR, N R, N BR, and CR, EPDM can play the role of polymer antioxidant or anti-aging agent.
(3) Excellent chemical resistance, acid, alkali, detergent, animal and plant oil, alcohol and alcohol, ketones, etc.; outstanding water resistance, hot water resistance, water vapor resistance; polar oil resistance.
(4) Excellent insulation performance, volume resistivity of 1016Q · cm, breakdown voltage of 30~40MV / m, dielectric constant (1kHz, 20℃) of 2.27.
(5) The applicable temperature range is wide, and the minimum use temperature is-40~ -60℃, which can be used in 130℃ conditions for a long time.
About US
JF Rubber and Plastics Co., ltd offers a comprehensive range of extruded rubber profiles to suit almost every application. Our service covers the designing, manufacture, inspection and delivery. Our company manufactures a wide range of Rubber Extruded Profiles which are widely used as insulators for Aluminium profiles, UPVC profiles, weather channels, dust protection and door packing. These are manufactured using high quality EPDM raw material and we manufacture them as per the international standards. Further, these are highly effective and long lasting in nature.
What is the difference between rubber and EPDM?
Both rubbers can withstand general weathering, Ozone and UV making them ideal for outdoor applications. Tear strength/resistance is how resistant a rubber is to tearing. EPDM has good tear strength and is seen as the more durable rubber compared to silicone
